(Post pandemic) District 87 Using Summer To Rebuild Students' 'Social Stamina'

The main takeaway from the article:

“I (assistant superintendent) am absolutely adamant that we do not talk about a learning loss. And the reason why I feel so strongly about that is if we think about putting that into the head of a child, what does that say to them? That they've learned nothing?”

Comment: As students begin returning to in-person classrooms, districts are trying to address the learning”gap” that the pandemic created. However, as the author adamantly asserts, “not to talk about learning loss.” Better to talk about what they learned traditional and non-traditional skills and proceed from there. I wholehearted agree to dispense with descriptors such as “loss and gap.”
